About a month ago, UGGs made it to Oprah’s list of favorite things. It also ended its special celebrity boots auction last December 14. Both occasions seem to indicate that the year has indeed ended wonderfully for UGG Australia.

The auction which was held in Ugg Australia’s website has raised $35,447 for the hospital this year. This is the third year in which the event has been held for St. Jude. Within this span of time, Ugg Australia has already raised over $100,000. The event itself has been around for five years.

It only seems fitting that St. Jude is Ugg Australia’s charity recipient. The institution is committed to finding treatment for cancers that affect children. It also treats children who already have cancer and other difficult health conditions.

This year, the boot art event for St. Jude brought together some of the finest actors, actresses and musicians. Despite the obvious differences in personality as reflected in their boot designs, they all had something in common— commitment to a good cause. The event’s theme was simple and straightforward but was brimming with the promise of personal definition. Each pair of celebrity designed boot was hand painted with “hope” in mind.

Among the more distinguished designs included Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus’ definitely cheerful full color metallic rainbow, dove and shinning sun design which sold for $3,800. Talk show host Ellen de Generes sold her multi metallic colored pair for $2,105. Cindy Crawford’s delightfully light blue boots with orange hearts and green vines picked a $2,100 price. Fashion icon and singing sensation Jessica Simpson followed at a close $2,101 with boots peppered with flowers, hearts and butterflies. Kelly Ripa also had beautiful butterflies and flowers on hers and was able to sell at $1,400.

Male celebrities also joined in on the Ugg Australia event. Matthew Mc Conaughey’s boots at $1,600 was definitely brimming with hope as it bore the slogan “Just Keep Living” and a peace sign. Ashton Kutcher had each boot carry half of the phrase “What comes up must go down” which sold for $700.

Other celebrities who participated in the auction included Ashlee Simpson, Penelope Cruz, Eva Longorai, John Travolta, Sharon Stone, Audrina Partridge, Minnie Driver, Liv Tyler, Kelly Preston, Whoopi Goldberg, Matha Stewart, Friday Night Lights cast, Las Vegas cast, Seth MacFarlane, Jorge Posada and Jordana Spiro.

Of course, the boot prices are many times over the already steep price of normal UGG boots. They will however definitely go a long way in helping sick children not only in America but in the whole world through treatment research.
